1:00 - “I’m a Real Hood Canaler” Event
Stop by Britta and Kevin Steele’s house to pick up your entry form, then check off items to win points toward “I am a Real Hood Canaler” certificate. Activities must take place during the reunion weekend and be witnessed and signed off on by at least one other person. The items include picking blackberries, skipping rocks in the Canal, walking to the graveyard and other quintessential Lilliwaup experiences
2:00 – Old family movies
Britta and Kevin’s house. Come have some popcorn and watch movies of Frank & Libbie's 50th anniversary, Mack & Merrily Knutsen leaving on their honeymoon, Vida’s house in Minneapolis, the In-Laws and Out-Laws party, and golf, golf, and more golf. Don’t forget about Grampa John’s wells. (We’ll go through the movies ahead of time to know when to fast forward.)
3:00 – Treasure Hunt
For kids and young teens. Meet at Britta's house to join in.
4:30 – Potluck Dinner
At Britta and Kevin’s house. We will provide plates, cutlery, napkins and cups. You bring a dish and drinks to share.
7:00 – More old movies
8:00 – Cards and Games
Poker, May I, Scrabble, Yahtzee. Bring a favorite game to share.
Sunday
9:30 – Pancake Breakfast Francie and Gregory's House. They will provide pancakes, coffee, dishes, utensils, napkins, etc. Please bring a side dish to share: bacon, eggs, sausages, juice, syrup, fruit, etc. Please let Francie ([email protected]) know what you’re bringing: .
10:30 - Hike to Lena Lake This is a 5-mile round trip with an elevation gain of 1300 feet. It is not a difficult hike and even young kids can make it if they hike slowly. Dogs on leash are allowed. From Lilliwaup drive north on Hwy 101, turn left onto the Hamma Hamma River Rd. at milepost 318. Drive 7.5 miles to the trailhead. <http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/lena-lake>
Show and Tell
Please bring any photos, documents, or memories you are willing to share. We will have a handheld scanner to make copies. We also hope we will get at least a few photos of everyone--something we didn't do very well in 2012 or 2014!
Note: While Lilliwaup is not closed to oyster harvesting it is closed to clam harvesting because of contamination. PSP (paralytic shellfish poisoning), which cannot be killed by cooking, has been noted in other areas of Hood Canal. The oysters are not at their best this time of year and you may choose not to pick and eat them.
